The common laptop/notebook keyboard is integrated into the chassis of the computer. The key layout is designed with compactness in mind, resulting in keys which are closer together. The cursor movement and editing keys are not usually in a separate keypad, but are spaced along the edges of the QWERTY keys. A numeric keypad seldom exists, nor do duplicates of the CTRL and ALT keys. These differences may take a little getting used to for users familiar with larger keyboards.
